Chinese HTC HD7 knockoff, a 4.8 inch dual-SIM monster!

As my HTC HD7 languishes in a warehouse on the outskirts of Melbourne, waiting to be whisked into my obsessive hands, little knowing that it’s heading to a mobile phone Doctor Frankenstein. In other parts of the world , crazed body snatching mad mobile scientists are tacking together disparate parts from here and there, to create a leviathan doppelganger of the HD7. Well it’s not that good of a likeness either, said to have a 1 Ghz Snapdragon processor *cough*, dual sim and micro SD slots, 5 megapixel camera, 4.8” capacitive touch screen, and a really poorly skinned version of Windows Mobile 6.5, it’s sure not going in my back pocket any time soon. It’d ruin the line of my jeans for sure.

The hulky HD7 has got even a bigger clone from Shenzhen with 4.8-inch capacitive touchscreen, multi touch support and 480×800 resolution. It promises 1GHz Snapdragon chip inside, the same as the original, but the presence of prominent shanzhai features hints its really likely a MediaTek chip will be found inside

Look at it next to the HTC HD2, ginormous, at least it will help with brand recognition for Windows Phone 7, as HTC try to push the real OS, and Commit to a better user experience in China. More images below

There’s an obvious oops in the counterfeiting process, everyone knows that Windows Phone doesn’t support HTC Sense, the only allowance to a sense like experience on Windows Phone is the HTC Hub. I’d really love to see a video of this in action, and what happens when you drill down past those initial dead tiles.

I’d be up for one of these just for the novelty value, it would probably make a good eBook reader, and media player with the right software installed Winking smile
