Google flips the switch, Android Market Web Store now LIVE

At Google’s Honeycomb event today, the Android team has finally unveiled the Android Market Web Store. We got our first glimpse of the Web Store at last year’s Google IO, but it’s finally available to consumers. Simple navigate to http://market.android.com to start browsing the Android Market on the web. Through the Android Market Web Store, users will be able to manage multiple devices, install applications directly to their phone or tablet, and share applications with friends in multiple ways.

Google has also rolled out some additional Android Market enhancements such as Buyer Currency Support (this new feature allows developers to price applications based on the buyer’s local currency) and also In-App Transactions (which gives users to make purchases within an application with their android Market account information).

The Android Market Web Store is LIVE, but we’re having issues when we hit the login page. Hopefully Google will flip the switch within the next few minutes so that we can all start exploring the new web store and spending out hard earned cash on some great applications.

  1. So excited about this. I’ve been waiting for the web-based Market since it was first teased months ago. Can’t wait to try it!
