HTC Merge reappears, may be heading to Alltel Wireless

New information regarding the HTC Merge has been hard to come by ever since the device showed up at Android Centrals door a few months back.  At the time, it looked as if Verizon was itching to launch the QWERTY equipped Android 2.2 handset.  But then things went silent.  We still don’t have any indication as to when or even if Verizon will be launching the HTC Merge, but a new picture of the handset has surfaced which seems to imply that the phone may be heading to Alltel sometime soon.

Alltel may not be one of the largest carriers in the U.S. market, but the fact that they are owned by Verizon Wireless goes a long way.  We’re actually not sure why Verizon hasn’t yet assimilated Alltel’s customers into the happy Verizon family, but we’re happy as long as more people get the chance to buy a new HTC phone.

This time around, let’s hope that the HTC Merge actually makes it to market.
