Vodafone releases Android 2.2 update for the HTC Legend

Vodafone has started rolling out Android 2.2 (Froyo) to the HTC Legend.  The Froyo update started rolling out to HTC Legend owners in the UK, France and Germany this morning.  While most users will be excited about some of the newer features included in the Android 2.2 build, it’s pretty hard to ignore the outstanding performance boost gained from the update.  Quadrant scores show that the Android 2.2 update gives the HTC Legend roughly a 120% performance boost over its previous Android 2.1 build.

The HTC Legend was never considered to be on the cutting edge, but the Android 2.2 update should be enough to hold users over for another six months before they need to start looking for a new handset.  HTC should be releasing the Android 2.2 update to the unlocked version of the Legend within a week or two and other carriers across Europe should be making the update available very soon.
