Rumor: Google Nexus Two heading to Carphone Warehouse in time for the holidays

Rumors are fun, but things get a lot more interesting when people start using the term “Google Phone.” Most diehard Android fans continue to praise the Nexus One, but there have been a lot of doubts about Google commitment to a second device since they stopped selling the handset directly through their site a few months back. The good news is that there’s some talk about Google working out a deal with Carphone Warehouse to distribute a follow-up handset to the Nexus One.  Apparently Google is looking for a partner who already has plenty of experience selling unlocked phones rather than trying to do things on their own.

The Nexus Two (that’s what we’re going to be calling this new phone until we have anything new to go by) is rumored to be running on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and should be available in the UK just in time for Christmas.  While it’s unclear who Google has chosen to manufacture the Nexus Two, we’re hoping Google will maintain their close relationship with HTC to deliver the first handset running Android 2.3.
