Google takes delivery of final Nexus One shipment

Google Nexus One by HTC

Google has just made the announcement that the Nexus One online store will soon be closing up for good.  A while back, Google told us that they were leaning more towards a traditional retails sales model and would be closing their phone store once they had transition plans in place.  Google’s has received their last official shipment of the Nexus One and will close up shop when the inventory is depleted.

Though you will not be able to get the Nexus One from Google for long, there’s no indication that the phone will cease to exist.  Vodafone will still be offering the Nexus One to their customers in a few countries across Europe and KT has plans to continue selling the phone in South Korea.

While many were hoping that Google and T-Mobile USA would be able to work out a retail distribution plan for the Nexus One, there is still no indication that the two companies have come to any agreements.  The Nexus One is the only phone which is directly supported by Google.  Google has made no promises about future Android updates on the phone, but most speculate that Google will be rolling out OTA updates to the phone for quite some time.  If you’re still on the fence, wondering if Google’s Nexus One is the right phone for you, you better make up your mind quick and head on over to Google phone store and make your purchase.

Keep in mind, online shops like Expansys and other cell phone importers will always have adequate supply (though pricing will be a bit more) as long as other international carriers continue to sell phone Nexus One.
