Unlocked Nexus One price set at $530, T-Mobile contract reduces price to $180

Even since we first started hearing rumors about a Google phone, the main question on everyone’s mind was about the price of the handset. Google’s Nexus One press event is not only six days away, but that hasn’t stopped people from leaking more details. The Nexus One will sell for $530 without any contract obligations. However, if you’re willing to sign your life away to another two year contract from T-Mobile you can save yourself nearly 70% of the cost and pay only $179.99. There are few issues we see with the rate plan structures that are being offered:

  • Only one rate plan is available for the Nexus One (39.99 Even More + Text + Web for $79.99)
  • Exicsint T-Mobile customers will need to “upgrade” to the new Nexus One plan
  • Family plans, Flexpay, SmartAccess and KidConnect customers are not eligible for subsidized pricing

There also appears to be some limitations on how many handsets can be ordered at a time and Google appears to be limiting shipment of the Nexus One to only U.S. customers. I’m not convinced that this leaked information from Gizmodo is 100% accurate. For now it’s all we have to go on.
