myTouch hacked, root access granted

If you’ve recently picked up T-Mobile new myTouch 3G, I’m sure you’ll be delighted to know that the hard working contributors over on XDA Developers have been able to gain root access to the phone and are sharing their secrets with the world. If you’re new to Android or HTC handsets, root access allows you to modify and tweak the phone by removing certain restriction that the phone operator may have placed on the handset. Having root access on your myTouch 3G will allow you to install custom themes for the UI, tether your 3G connection with other devices, enable multi touch support (just like the iPhone) in certain application, and much more.

Keep in mind that gaining root access to your myTouch 3G will most likely void your T-mobile or HTC warranties on the handset AND could brick your phone. I would only recommend you go through the process if you are extremely knowledgeable on how Android works, so don’t blame me if you’re phone turns into a paper weight.
