First shots of the HTC Hero

HTC Hero
We present to you the HTC Hero. A few months back we got our first glimpse of the Hero from HTC’s leaked 2009 roadmap. Back then, all we knew is that is was an Android powered phone and that the color was pink. Fortunately, things have changed a little since then. The pink colored handset is nowhere to be found and one of the other images after the break shows a 3.5mm headphone jack. The only other HTC handset on the market with a 3.5mm headphone jack is the HTC TouchHD, powered by Windows Mobile. The picture above is a little perplexing. It appears that HTC has chosen to do away with the trackball from the G1 and the Magic. We’re assuming they are aiming for a full touch screen navigation experience. We’re not sure if this is the best decision HTC has made since the trackball on the HTC G1 is an incredible UI navigational tool. There’s speculation that the HTC Hero will be available in Q3, but we’ll have to hit up @HTC in Twitter to get some confirmation.
