NY Times: HTC’s Android Phone to Launch as Early as October

It seems with all this commotion about the HTC Dream (G1) which T-Mobile is expected to launch this year, the New York Times has decided to share some of the information they have. An article which appeared on their site last night states "The phone will be made by HTC, one of the largest makers of mobile phones in the world, and is expected to go on sale in the United States before Christmas, perhaps as early as October." and they also said "A person who has seen the HTC device said it matched the one in the video." referring to the video we posted a few days back. It’s also stated that T-Mobile, HTC, and Google have plans on announcing the phone in September to take full advantage of the holiday sales season. This information matches up with what TmoNews has reported, indicating that T-Mobile will start presales of the device on September 17th.

We have tried to verify this news with T-Mobile and HTC, but have only gotten the standard response that they expect to offer an android powered phone in Q4 of this year.
