HTC Touch launched as Verizon XV6900

Verizon HTC Touch

Verizon is set to launch the HTC Touch in the coming days at the XV6900.  No one knows why Verizon insists on reducing more and more phone models to a combination of letters and numbers, but at least it doesn't change how the phone works.

Verizon's XV6900 will feature all the same bells and whistles as the Sprint and the Alltel versions of the HTC Touch.  One of the new things we have just learned about is that like Verizon's XV6900, both Sprint and Alltel's touch devices have a GSP recevier already built into the device, but they have been disabled through the carriers software.  Personally, I'm not sure why Sprint and Alltel would want to disable one of the best features of this phone, but it definitely gives Verizon the upper hand, even if the XV6900 is about five month behind the competition.
